Tanzanite is a beautiful, versatile gemstone that comes in a range of sizes and cuts. Although this stone wasn’t discovered until the late 1960s, it has quickly become one of the most popular gemstones in the world. Tanzanite is a pleochroic gem, which means it can show different colours when viewed in different directions. These colours include yellow, green, blue and purple.

The name ‘tanzanite’ indicates the gem’s limited geographic origin – all tanzanite mines are located in an area of approximately 20 square kilometres, in Tanzania, East Africa.

Symbolically, tanzanite is viewed as a protective stone that has a calming and soothing effect on the wearer.
