Ring resizing is just one of our Jewellery Services and is carried out at our Brisbane jewellery studio and workshop by master jewellers. Resizing takes about a week to complete, depending on the complexity of the ring. This also ensures no aspect of craftsmanship is overlooked. Does My Ring Need To Be Resized?
There’s a number of reasons why you might get your ring resized. It could be that you inherited a family heirloom piece that needs to be tailored. Maybe you’ve been surprised by an engagement but it doesn’t quite fit nicely. Or it’s possible that your fingers have changed shape over time.
The consequences of an ill-fitting ring are quite apparent. Too loose and it may slip off without you noticing. Too tight and it will cause discomfort. The goal of a ring resize is to make you confident about wearing your piece of jewellery.
It’s fairly normal that your ring may feel slightly off — throughout the day our hands change shape depending on the weather, exercise and activity.
However, if you always feel like it’s too big, or you have trouble putting it on your finger, it’s probably time to have it resized.

What Is The Process For Resizing?
There are two main methods for resizing. Increasing the size requires making a small split in the ring and adding a material bridge that’s smoothed out into the ring. Making it smaller involves removing a small section at the base of the ring, then reattaching each side and smoothing it out.
We can resize rings made in 9ct or 18ct yellow gold, white gold or rose gold, as well as platinum. Some rings are more complicated than others. Resizing a ring involves additional work if you wish to retain the look of your original design, including full bands of diamonds, ornate patterns, or internal engraving.
