Pink diamonds are desired by many and owned by few – they are a fantastic investment and a great representation of love and romance. If you are surprising your partner with a ring, a pink diamond engagement ring is sure to take their breath away!
Here are 3 reasons to choose a pink diamond engagement ring:
Pink Diamond Engagement Rings Are Rare & Unique
Pink diamonds are some of the rarest natural diamonds in the world – they are 20 times rarer than white diamonds. And we’re lucky to be in Australia, which is where the most beautiful pink diamonds are found! The Argyle diamond mine is the only reliable source of pink diamonds in the world, and this mine is responsible for at least 90% of the global supply.
To give you an idea of how rare these beautiful diamonds are… Just 0.1% of the diamonds that come from this mine are pink. In fact, The mine’s annual production of pink diamonds (just over half a carat) would fit in the palm of your hand!
Pink diamonds are favourites amongst celebrities including Blake Lively, Kate Bosworth, Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez – however, their soft-coloured diamonds don’t match the intensity of the beautifully rich-coloured diamonds that come from the Argyle mine!
If you are looking for an engagement ring that is unlike any other, choose pink!
During the Elizabethan Era in England (1558-1603), pink was thought to represent happiness and delight. These days, the colour pink is associated with femininity, love (of oneself and others), romance, tenderness, charm, affection, and harmony. This means that they are the perfect diamond to represent your relationship and commitment to love!
Coloured diamonds get their hues from trace elements that are present during their formation. Specific elements cause specific colours – for example, nitrogen causes the colour in yellow diamonds, and boron causes the colour in blue diamonds. When it comes to pink diamonds, however, none of these trace elements have been found! This has led scientists to speculate that the colour may have resulted from some kind of seismic shock that altered the stone’s molecular structure.
